Each year in the Spring, the Dunnigan Fire Protection District sends out reminders to residents to keep their lots free from hazardous weeds and rubbish. The Clean Lot Program has been very effective. It takes the entire community to help keep fire risk to a minimum. We thank all of the residents who participate in the program.
If you would like to have a controlled burn, please call the Yolo County Fire Dispatch at 530-666-8920. You will need to provide the following information: name, address and type of burning (i.e., yard trimmings).
Rural residential burning is the open burning of yard wastes by household residents. Rural residential burning of green waste includes dry weeds, plant prunings, shrubbery, tree trimmings and branches.
-
Four categories of burn days: permissive, restricted, minimum, and no burn days.
-
Burning may occur only after a burn day has been declared and between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
-
All green waste material must be dry and free of trash and dirt.
-
Burn piles can not be larger than 4 feet by 6 feet diameter.
-
Burn piles must have adequate clearance (50ft. neighboring property, 50ft. structures, 15ft. combustible materials).
-
Dispatch must be informed of the place and location of the burn before the burn takes place.
-
No household waste is to be burned (including paper and cardboard) which must be disposed of properly.
Remember, it is both illegal and hazardous to burn trash
